Description

CONSNANT APF 3P3W/3P4W-RM Series Rack Mount Active Power Filter (50A–200A) is a new-generation power electronic power quality management device based on voltage source inverter topology. It covers two wiring types: 3-phase 3-wire (3P3W) and 3-phase 4-wire (3P4W), compatible with 220VAC, 400VAC and 690VAC low-voltage distribution systems. Adopting standard rack mounting design, it can be integrated into floor-standing cabinets and standard electrical cabinets.

Driven by high-speed DSP chips, the internal IGBT power modules generate PWM compensation signals. The device collects load current in real time and dynamically outputs reverse harmonic compensation current to realize all-in-one functions: harmonic filtering, dynamic reactive power compensation, three-phase unbalance correction, voltage fluctuation suppression, resonance elimination and power factor improvement. It avoids harmonic amplification risk, features ultra-fast response, wide filtering range, high filtering efficiency, compact and lightweight structure, serving as core equipment for harmonic and reactive power control in industrial, commercial, rail transit and other sectors.

 

Working Principles:

  • External Current Transformer (CT) samples real-time load current waveforms;
  • Built-in DSP chip conducts high-speed calculation to separate harmonic, reactive and negative-sequence unbalanced current components;
  • The controller sends PWM driving signals to IGBT inverter units, generating compensation current with equal amplitude and opposite phase to distorted load current and injects it into power grid, counteracting power quality distortion and stabilizing grid operation.

 

Main Functions:

  • Harmonic Filtering: Supports 2–51 order harmonic suppression under single harmonic filtering mode; priority mode focuses on 2–13 primary harmonics;
  • Multi-mode Priority Setting: Customizable priority modes including H+Q, Q+H, Q+H+B, H+Q+B (H=Harmonic, Q=Reactive Power, B=Unbalance);
  • Dynamic Reactive Power Compensation: Smooth continuous reactive power regulation, lift power factor above 0.95 to eliminate reactive power penalty and reduce transformer & line loss;
  • Three-phase Unbalance Correction: Balance three-phase load current and reduce neutral line overheating;
  • Resonance Suppression: No system resonance or harmonic amplification risk when matched with passive capacitor banks;
  • Comprehensive Protection: Full protection against overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, IGBT failure, phase loss, over-temperature and communication faults;
  • Parallel Expansion: Max. 5 units parallel operation in one system, customized expansion available;
  • Remote Monitoring: Standard RS485 communication port with Modbus protocol for remote data collection and operation monitoring.

How to choose between 3P3W and 3P4W APF models?
The 3P3W (3-phase 3-wire) model is suitable for symmetrical industrial loads without neutral wire, such as metallurgy, petrochemical, mechanical equipment and electrified railway power distribution systems. The 3P4W (3-phase 4-wire) model is designed for scenarios with single-phase loads, neutral current and three-phase unbalance, including IDC rooms, commercial buildings, hospitals, charging stations and municipal facilities, which can solve harmonics, reactive power and three-phase unbalance problems simultaneously.
What rated voltages does the product support? Is customized non-standard voltage available?
The standard rated voltage is 400VAC (compatible with 380/400/415V power distribution systems). Customized 220VAC and 690VAC versions are available to meet global power grid standards.
What compensation priority modes are supported?
Customizable multi-priority modes are available: H+Q (harmonic priority), Q+H (reactive power priority), Q+H+B (reactive power + harmonic + unbalance), H+Q+B (full-function balanced compensation), which can be switched flexibly according to on-site conditions.
What protection functions does the device have? Is the operation safe?
It integrates comprehensive protection functions including overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent, phase loss, over-temperature, IGBT fault and communication abnormality. It will automatically alarm and stop for protection to avoid device burnout and grid faults, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
